Smoky Mountains

I'm getting spring fever and READY TO HEAD TO THE MOUNTAINS OF

My maternal grandfather was born in Cashiers NC, then lived with his family in Salem, SC a while (where his dad was mayor), and married a young lady from Six Mile SC and settled there. I often wished he had stayed in the mountains of NC so I could have been where my happy places are; however, had he stayed there, I might not exist. Ha! So, here I am, and longing to be in the hills.

Why? Oh, to sit in a quiet forested area beside a babbling stream and feel the breezes on my face and the little feathered friends chattering. What could be more relaxing? (Well, maybe stamping is close second). When growing up, my parents introduced me to traveling and camping. First in a truck camper, then a travel trailer and later to a motor home. Smelling the bacon cooking outside and eating a sweet potato baked in the campfire are such sweet memories.

My grandfather told of times when several families would travel by wagon from Six Mile up into the NC mountains and the men would go trout fishing in the cold streams, bring

home their catch, and cook them on a campfire. Then spend the night and come home the next I guess camping in in my veins - as well as the mountains and streams.

So, now, I take Paper Pumpkin kits and craft by the stream until I get so sleepy that I just have to "rest my eyes" for a spell. Sometimes I will stamp several things before going on vacation and take my pencils and aquapainter and do some coloring. Combining my love of the mountain streams and paper crafting and the most relaxing things that I can think of to do.

Are you stressed? It's been said that stamping is so much better therapy than anything else AND much cheaper. (Ummm, I don't know about that. I horde pretty DSP paper LOL)
